Youth Training Programs in Africa

Refugee camps throughout Eastern Africa are filled with young people - energetic youth with uncertain futures due to a lack in leadership, education, and support. Legacy Mission Village seeks to empower the youth living in refugee camps by training them to take responsibility and take control of their future lives. We wish to go to the camps and give these young people the opportunity of education and the ability to begin their own business through micro-enterprise.

Initially, Legacy Mission Village has focused on refugee camps located in Western Uganda, partnering with the local Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational Institute (KSVI). The KSVI school opened in 2007 in the very poor Kamwenge district, seeking to reach out to the future generation and offer them training and education in a Christian environment. Through the school's various programs in the sciences, woodwork, sewing and more, students are given the opportunity to learn employable skills that will allow them to obtain jobs and support themselves and their families. The school additionally serves the community by offering counseling services along with education programs in basic life skills, family planning, nutrition, and health issues.
