LMV in Action: Remera-Rukoma Hospital

In 2010, Legacy Mission Village partnered with First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in Nashville to buy a large commercial washing machine and dryer for a hospital owned by a church in rural Remera, Rwanda (a smaller town outside of Kigali).

The Remera-Rukoma hospital serves over 300,000 villagers. It was a forgotten hospital for several years, only recently receiving electricity. Surgical items and linens were being hand washed, increasing the risk of cross-contamination and hospital-borne infections.

A group from LMV visited the hospital in 2010 and saw the need. They heard the Medical Coordinator who expressed the urgent need for commercial washers and dryers now that they have water and electricity. This equipment was essential for the reduction of the infection rate. The team reported the need to LMV board members and we are so thankful for the generous gifts from FPC Nashville and from LMV board members through the Outreach Foundation which allowed these machines to be purchased for this community. Gifts like this bear lasting fruits for the Kingdom.
